Full-time Individual Needs Assistant - Temporary Contract

The Windmills Junior School is seeking to appoint an Individual Needs Assistant for specific children with cognition and learning, and social needs. We are a happy, caring junior school with more than 370 children on roll. We are looking for a warm, dynamic and flexible individual to join our team.  We see the role of teaching assistants as essential to children’s learning and therefore require a passionate, highly skilled and professional person to take on this key role. Good English and maths skills are essential in able to support our learners.

The job will involve working closely with and supporting individual children, helping them to succeed independently within a classroom setting. Recent experience in a primary school and working with children with specific needs is desirable. The post will involve day-to-day class support as well as delivering bespoke additional interventions.

In addition to your TA responsibilities, you will also be a mid-day-meals supervisor, supporting the children’s personal and social education on the playground, teaching them how to play and supporting this crucial part of their learning.

Salary: Grade 3, Point 3, which is an annual salary of £18,065 pro rata – actual salary £11,662.

Days: The post is 5 days a week - working 28.75 hours per week/5.75 hrs per day, term-time only.

  • have a passion for working with children
  • be able to build positive relationships with everyone
  • have an optimistic and positive attitude and be flexible to the demands of the job
  • be patient and able to stay calm and listen to and value the children
  • be suitably qualified for the post of teaching assistant i.e. have a good literacy and numeracy skills (to GCSE level or higher)
  • have good mathematical skills that could be used to support children working up to year 6 (good understanding of tables, division, problem solving and fractions)
  • be able to work as part of a team, and
  • have the ability to maintain confidentiality

Teaching Assistant part time

 The Windmills Junior School is seeking to appoint a part time, temporary, teaching assistant to work within KS2.

We are a happy, caring junior school with more than 370 children on roll. We are looking for a warm, dynamic and flexible individual to join our team.  We see the role of teaching assistants as essential to children’s learning and therefore require a passionate, highly skilled and professional person to take on this key role. Good English and maths skills are essential in able to support our learners.

In addition to your TA responsibilities, you will also be a mid-day-meals supervisor, supporting the children’s personal and social education on the playground, teaching them how to play and supporting this crucial part of their learning.

Salary: Grade 3 - Point 3, which is an annual salary of £18,065 pro rata – actual gross salary £4,665.

Days: The post is 2 days a week (ideally Monday and Tuesday) – working 9am to 3:15pm.

The successful candidate will:
