The Windmills Junior School is seeking to appoint a teaching assistant to work within KS2. This is a temporary position for the whole of the academic year.   You will be supporting learning in the classroom, working with individual children and running intervention groups as well as taking on the role of MDMS at lunchtime.

We are looking for a positive, calm, flexible individual to join us.  We see the role of teaching assistants as essential to children’s learning and therefore require a passionate, skilled, and professional person to take on this key role. Good English and maths skills are essential in able to support our learners. Recent experience in a primary school and working with children is desirable.

Salary: Grade 3 - Point 3 (3 days per week – term time only £7’349 / 4 days per week – term time only £9’798)

(annual salary of £18,887 pro rata for a full time position – all TAs are term time only so actual full time salary  £12,037)

The successful candidate will:

  • have a passion for working with children
  • be able to build positive relationships with children and adults alike
  • have an optimistic and positive attitude and be flexible to the demands of the job
  • be patient and able to stay calm and listen to and value the children
  • be suitably qualified for the post of teaching assistant i.e. have a good literacy and numeracy skills (to GCSE level or higher)
  • have good mathematical skills that could be used to support children working up to year 6 (good understanding of tables, division, problem solving and fractions)
  • be able to work as part of a team, and
  • have the ability to maintain confidentiality
