School Cleaner

Main responsibility:-  You will lead a cleaning team, working alongside them as part of a team, undertaking and managing various cleaning duties throughout the school to ensure our children’s learning environment is always clean. Being responsible for the supervision of cleaners in accordance with your job description and under instructions issued by the Premises Manager and Business Manager.

HOURS:- 4.30pm – 7.30pm (15hrs per week) term time only  (these hours can be reviewed, potentially starting later)

In addition, you are required to work inset days and two weeks within the school holidays to fulfil a deep clean of the school.

Personal holidays must be taken when the school is shut - 5.4 weeks of holiday entitlement will be paid to you within your salary.

Salary: Grade 4 – point 5 or 6 dependent on relevant experience

  • Point 5: full time salary - £19’650 (pro rata £7’108 term time only)
  • Point 6: full time salary - £20’043 (pro rata £7’250 term time only)

Job role:

We are seeking a hard-working and dedicated School Cleaner to work in our friendly school. You will lead a cleaning team, working alongside them as part of a team, undertaking various cleaning duties throughout the school to ensure our children’s learning environment is always clean.  

We would like you to have:

Essential

  • Experience in cleaning duties and knowledge of best practices in cleaning
  • Ability to work under own initiative without supervision
  • Aware of the importance of providing a quality service and satisfying the cleaning requirements of the school
  • Aware of importance of hygiene in the work place
  • Ability to work on your own and to work as part of a team
  • A reasonable level of fitness
  • Punctual, reliable and trustworthy
  • Able to manage time effectively

 

Desirable

  • Understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education and their responsibilities for Safeguarding
  • Understanding of Health and Safety regulations as they relate to the operation of cleaning equipment and materials
  • Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
  • Understanding of the School’s ethos and values
  • Willingness to attend training and be supported to improve
  • Have a ‘Can do attitude’
