        Premises Manager – The Windmills Junior School

Salary:

Grade 5 salary is £20’092 - £20’493 (Potentially Grade 6 for the right candidate who is willing to take on a line management role)

Hours:

Either: split shift 7am – 10am and 2.30 pm to 7pm Or 10am – 6pm (there is some flexibility with these hours)

Full time:

The role is a 52 weeks per year contract with 23 days of holidays plus bank holidays

We are a larger than average junior school in Hassocks, with an extensive site in a stunning location at the foot of the South Downs. We are keen to enhance the school site to give our pupils the best environment possible to support their learning.  We are looking for an outstanding Premises Manager to ensure that this happens; who will be responsible for improving and taking care of our school site so that it is a great place to learn and work.   

We are looking for someone who:

The role will include:

  • A desire to do a good job and improve the environment so that it is fit for purpose and safe
  • Ensuring that the whole school environment is maintained to a good standard to include ongoing maintenance checks in order to fully comply with Health and Safety legislation
  • Maintaining appropriate paperwork in relation to the role
  • Reporting key strategic issues to do with the safety and development of the site to the Leadership Team and governing body
  • Responsibility for the security of the building, property, lettings and to be on call as required

This role will require work both inside and outside. It is a physical job so will also require a good level of fitness. The job involves manual handling and working at heights.  We will require the post holder to be flexible with their working hours on occasions. We would consider a job share for this role.

Teaching Assistant Full time / Part Time

The Windmills Junior School is seeking to appoint a full time teaching assistant to work within KS2. This is a temporary position for the whole of the academic year.

We are a happy, caring junior school with more than 370 children on roll. We are looking for a warm, dynamic and flexible individual to join our team. We see the role of teaching assistants as essential to children’s learning and therefore require a passionate, highly skilled and professional person to take on this key role. Good English and maths skills are essential in able to support our learners. Recent experience in a primary school and working with children is desirable.

In addition to your TA responsibilities, you will also be a mid-day-meals supervisor, supporting the children’s personal and social education on the playground, teaching them how to play and supporting this crucial part of their learning.

Salary: Grade 3 - Point 3, which is an annual salary of £18,562 pro rata – actual salary £12,037

Days: The post is 5 days a week - working 9am to 3:15pm. However, there may be flexibility for a part time position.

The successful candidate will:

· have a passion for working with children

· be able to build positive relationships with everyone

· have an optimistic and positive attitude and be flexible to the demands of the job

· be patient and able to stay calm and listen to and value the children

· be suitably qualified for the post of teaching assistant i.e. have a good literacy and numeracy skills (to GCSE level or higher)

· have good mathematical skills that could be used to support children working up to year 6 (good understanding of tables, division, problem solving and fractions)

· be able to work as part of a team, and

· have the ability to maintain confidentiality

- Full-time Individual Needs Assistant –

The Windmills Junior School is seeking to appoint an Individual Needs Assistant to work with a child, with specific needs, requiring tailored support to access the curriculum and thrive in school. This role is crucial in supporting this individual to succeed in their learning. The candidate will need to have experience of working with children. To be able to listen to them and work out how best to support them by developing a relationship based on trust and respect. Building the child’s confidence and self-esteem so they are emotionally ready to learn.

In addition to being child centred, calm and caring we are looking for someone who can contribute positively to the team. Good English and maths skills are essential to be able to break down the learning into small achievable steps for the child.

Salary: Grade 3 - Point 3, which is an annual salary of £18,562 pro rata – actual salary £12,037 due to this being a term time only position

Days: The post is 5 days a week (during term time) - working 9am to 3:15pm - 28.75 hours per week

This position is linked to a child with an EHCP and is therefore attached to how long they stay at the school. The child that we are recruiting for is going into year 4 so should be with the school for another 3 years. At which point there may well be other vacancies available.
