WELCOME TO YEAR 3
Our topic for the summer term is GREEN FINGERS
TRIPS / VISITS OR SPECIAL THINGS HAPPENING THIS TERM:
Wednesday 26th April
- Plumpton College visit
The most important part of doing formal homework is for your child to learn how to organise some of their learning and their time at home on a regular basis.
The weekly Homework tasks are set on Thursday and should be returned by the following Tuesday unless specified in the task.
In year 3 the homework expectation is:
- Reading every night and recording in a reading diary
- 1 My Maths activity (this will be introduced after half term)
- Practising tables 2x 15 minutes (minimum a week)
The weekly MyMaths tasks - will be set on Tuesday and should be completed by the following Tuesday. This will be introduced to the children after half term and a letter will be sent home with more information.
Multiplication tables - these will be tested weekly on Friday.
SPELLINGS: We have purchased a new spelling scheme which includes a spelling book that will come home with your child. We need to start this in class and then you will be getting a letter home explaining how this will work. Your child will be asked to practise the spellings that they get weekly. These will link directly to spelling patterns that they are learning in class.
Reading: Children should read every night to build up fluency and confidence. Their reading diary should be initialled or commented on by parents each time you hear your child read so that we can easily see who is regularly reading at home. They should write a comment about each book as they finish it before moving on to the next one.
Reading to your child is still a valuable experience, allowing them to enjoy stories and the sound and rhythms of the written word as well as being a lovely sharing time.
PE Days - Your child should bring in their PE kit in a bag (please name PE kit) on a Monday and take it home on a Friday so they have it in school all week in case there are any changes to the below timetable:
A note is required if your child is unable to do PE for any reason.
